Do you really need a phone? – pretty shure you do, but do you need a 6inch-color-multitouch-wlan-mp3-gps-flybyitself-remote-lightsaber-iphone-device? You don’t really need that; all you need is the RX-80, the creditcard sized gsm phone by simvalley. It’s abled to make phone calls, write sms, and wake you up in the morning. That’s it, what do you need more? And by the way, it’s just overly cool to have a phone looking as minimalistic as a calculator – for only twenty bucks.

Up to now I believed Berlin was the meeting spot for all the design-wannabes of this world; seems like I was mistaken. Kinzo is of such a sculptural pureness that it’s questionable, whether one should really work on it.

Navigarius car navigation system

After having finished work on their ueber-cool Optimus Maximus keyboard, Art.Lebedev Studio has come up with this car navigation system with a round touchscreen. I like the Concept, althougt I question the need for more dedicated navigation devices while every Phone has one.

Fire Design

fire-design hat richtig erkannt, dass die meisten Leute Ihren Feuerloescher seiner Haesslichkeit wegen in einem Schrank verstecken, wo er im Bedarfsfall nicht schnell genug zur Hand ist und praesentiert nun eine Linie von Feuerloeschern, die sich jeder designbewusste Pyromane getrost in die Kueche haengen kann.

usTogether entwirft interessante Badeinrichtungen, die neben ihren retrospectiv wirkenden, aus einer Linie entstehenden Formen auch einiges an Raumeffizienz bieten. Der zum System gehoerige Gesichtsspiegel faellt leider voellig aus der Reihe und haette ein Makeover verdient.

Auf dem Hintergrund, dass in Amerika von den taeglichen 60 Milionen Plastikflaschen nur 14% recycled werden, hat die Designfirma brandimage eine neue Flasche entworfen. Das Konzept ist so einfach wie ueberzeugend. Die PaperWaterBottle koennte es durchaus mal in die Verkaufsregale schaffen

Mission One

Barcelona Chair

Obschon altbekannt komme ich nicht umhin diesem Klassiker einen Post zu widmen, er wuerde fehlen, so wie er in meinem Wohnzimmer fehlt.
